Students are once again studying the industrial revolution and it is time to ShamWOW me! Students created DIY inventions or life hacks and looked at how to create the product on an assembly line. They also put economies of scales into action. They had to buy product materials in bulk, to see the cost per item go down, as they produced greater numbers of their product. Once they had a business proposal in place, and a product created, the students created commercials to sell their products. Featured below are some of the best from this year.

Students attempted to bring history to life at a historical dinner party. Each student became a person from the Renaissance & Reformation and researched answers to questions on his or her selected person. At the dinner party students spent time talking to all of the other guests. Students were to put effort towards dressing up and bringing a dish to pass. Students even made some dishes from the period.
It is that time of year again to look at World Religions in World History class. In groups of two the World History students recently created posters based on World Religions. We used the program Canva to create the posters and below are featured some of the awesome posters created. All of the posters were were placed in a Google Drive Folder so students could complete a world religions online scavenger hunt.

World History students usually attend an NMU production of A Christmas Carol when we finished study of the Industrial Revolution. This year we discussed and Christmas Carol and looked at Dickens, the play, the Industrial Revolution, and how they were are connected. Students broke into groups and talked about specific topics. Enjoy some a small piece of the big project.
US History students finished a unit on The Jazz Age. Then they were able to select a person from a list of 120 influential 1920s people. The students adopted the persona of this historical figure and completed biographical research.
The students finished off the activity with a 1920s dinner party in which they attended as that historical figure. Throughout the class period students went around and introduced each other to the all the guests, enjoyed food and 20s inspired treats, and at the end of the party had to determine who their soul mate and who their greatest enemy would be from this 20s party. Bessie Smith, Al Capone, and Babe Ruth were just a few of the many figures present today.

Students in World History focused on their learning objectives from the chapter on French Revolution. In groups they created movies which teach about the French Revolution through important events in the Revolution. Enjoy watching some of our project based learning bests!
Project based learning hits a whole new level of GROSS when we study the Progressive Era. We learned how the Progressives see problems and want to fix them. The food industry is an area that really needs reform. We learned how Upton Sinclair sounds the alarm of the horrors of the meat packing industry. We also learned how more soldiers died eating canned meat than in battle during the Spanish American War. So of course our project should be a more indepth look of what meats come in a can today! No one has to eat anything BUT curiosity always seems to get the best of Freshmen and they get to sampling.
This is the 2019 KING of Canned Meats! Galen ate all the meats in all three hours!!!
The World history students take project based learning to the community for Halloween. The students research the origins of Halloween along with their choice of a spooky Halloween element. Students create engaging introductions, stated thesis statements, and well structured body paragraphs. After creating the research paper, students developed Halloween children's stories based on well-known tales. On Halloween, the Junior Class went to Woodland Elementary for the morning to read their Halloween stories and entertain the students with Halloween activities.
The US History students really knocked it out of the park with our project-based learning and the Populist Era. Students worked in groups and used their historical knowledge to make connections to The Wizard of Oz. The end results were amazing! Check out some of the best projects below
